There have been a number of unfortunate fatalities at both automatic half-barrier crossings and user-worked crossings in the UK over the last few years, and user-worked crossings are seen as some of the most dangerous methods of crossing a railway at a grade level. This presentation explores the recent developments in technology that have been applied to level crossings in order to improve the safety of both user-worked and automatic half-barrier type crossings.
